What’s On Your Mind?

by Cavin Harper

How do I handle a difficult relationship with my adult children so it doesn’t hinder my relationship with my grandchildren? How do I stay connected with my grandchildren as a long distance grandparent? What are ways I can share my faith more effectively with my grandchildren, especially as teenagers?

These are just a few of the questions I am constantly getting from grandparents—mostly questions common to many of us. Perhaps you have questions and concerns as a grandparent, and would welcome the opportunity to talk about them with other grandparents and someone experienced in dealing with some of these issues. If so, I’d like to invite you to join in the conversation through Grand Chats.

Grand Chats are sponsored by the Legacy Coalition (Grandparenting That Matters). The first live Grand Chat session will be available Monday, April 18th at 7 pm MDT. It is open to any grandparents, or parents, who like to join in on the one-hour conversation. However, spaces are limited to 50 people, so if you would like to participate, send an email to…

In the subject line simply type GRAND CHAT and send it to me. You will receive an email invitation with a link either by computer or phone number unless spaces are filled. If you join online through your computer, you will also need to load the free version of Zoom (zoom.us) to connect to the chat.

On Monday, April 18, we will be discussing the Joys and Pains of Grandparenting. I will be your host, but you, as a participant, will be doing most of the talking. This is your opportunity to talk about things that are close to your heart with several other grandparents. It’s good for us to realize we are not alone, and that many others share similar stories to your own. Perhaps we will be able to help and encourage one another.

Grand Chats will be held monthly during April and May (May 16). If those are well received, then beginning in June Grand Chats we’ll do a few more.  If these go well, we may go to weekly Grand Chats beginning this Fall.

One week prior to each Grand Chat session we will announce the topic for discussion and who our Guest will be for that session. Each Guest will bring a unique perspective and expertise on the topic for that Grand Chat. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and share in the conversation.

Sign up today to reserve your spot for our first Grand Chat, Monday, April 18 at 7 pm MDT. I’m looking forward to the chat.
